My husband and I were just married last year, and we have two big kids, and another on the way! I’m a full time Accountant by day, and a sports mom, teen-advisor, taxi driving chef by night, and I still manage to fit in the time for crafting in all of that.
What do you like about where you live?
I live in a suburb of Dallas, and I love that not only are the schools great for the kids, but we have everything we need, without the crazy city, and I just love our community. The kids have been fortunate enough to grow up there and I am so appreciate of the fact they have been able to stay close to their friends and family in the midst of a “city” life style.
What is the wedding industry like where you live?
It’s Dallas! High end and pretentious. I was on such a tight budget that I would look at the high dollar weddings and find pieces that I loved about them and just say “i can do that” and I’d make it happen. I planned and made everything at our wedding, and it came out fabulous!
How did you start to sell on Etsy?
I found etsy while planning my wedding, and was instantly hooked. I had 11 bridesmaids and when thinking of something unique to give them, I had seen an example of a name hanger, and thought that it would be a great idea to give each of them. After getting requests from other brides to make some for them, I decided to take a chance and start my own Etsy shop and it just took off.
Where can we find you?
What’s your style?
Thats a hard one – I love to be in cute sweats and sneakers some days, which makes sense with all the running around we end up doing with the kids, but other days I have to have my jeans and heels. So I guess I’d have to say my style is a little bit momma, a little bit city girl, and a little diva all wrapped in one.
What gives you inspiration?
My husband, my kids, and just knowing that what I am doing brings happiness to someone else – thats the best feeling ever!
Any advice to brides either as a vendor and/or having been a bride yourself?
Not to forget who the wedding is about, plan the wedding of YOUR dreams, not someone else’s, and just because you are on a tight budget doesn’t mean that you can’t have what you want, it just has to be improvised. Figure out what is most important on your day, photography was mine, and then go down the list from there and set priorities.
This week’s giveaway is for a hanger of your choice!
